WAC

What is WAC?

WAC stands for “Writing Across the Curriculum.” It’s an educational approach where students are encouraged to write in all subjects, not just in their language arts or English classes. This means you might be asked to write a report in science, a diary entry in history, or even a story in math class. The goal is to help students improve their writing skills and understand that writing is an important part of learning in every subject.

Why is WAC Important?

WAC is important because it helps students become better writers, which can help them in many areas of life. Writing in different subjects helps you think more deeply about what you’re learning. It also makes you practice organizing your thoughts and expressing them clearly. Plus, good writing skills are useful for almost any job you might have in the future.

  • Improves writing skills
  • Encourages deeper thinking
  • Helps in organizing thoughts
  • Useful in most careers

How Does WAC Work?

In a WAC program, teachers from all subjects will include writing assignments in their lessons. For example, your science teacher might ask you to write a lab report, and your history teacher might ask you to write an essay about a historical event. By writing in different subjects, you get to practice different types of writing, which makes you a more versatile writer.

  • Writing assignments in all subjects
  • Different types of writing tasks
  • Improves versatility in writing
